History

1912
Tulip's first brand with three tulips was registered as the first brand name in Denmark. The brand was introduced in connection with exports to the UK.

1931
Tulip has always had a strong tradition for developing new, quality meat products. Pictured here are visitors to an exhibition stand at Olympia in London who are clearly enjoying tasting the brand new products.

1941
Danish bacon has been a permanent ingredient in traditional English breakfast for more than 100 years. In the early 1940s, an extensive distribution network was built up, ensuring that the British population could buy and enjoy the meaty Danish bacon.

1958
Tulip Slagterierne (slaughterhouse) in Vejle was the first factory in Europe to acquire machines to produce bacon in slices. This picture from 1958 shows 80 women at work, sitting in rows and packing the sliced bacon. At that time the products were packed in cans and plastic bags. Today slicing is computerised and the range of products and packaging has greatly increased.

1975
In May 1975, refrigerated container shipment number 150,000 to the UK market was celebrated.

1990
Tulip International A/S was founded in October this year. The new company was formed by merging Normeat, Danepak, Jaka and Tulip.
In the same year, Danish Prime was established through the merger of Meatcut A/S and Faaborg Middagsretter.

1995
Danish Prime acquired MOU.
Merging the two brand names, DANISH PRIME and MOU laid the foundation for a new, even stronger product concept that was launched under the new and modernised MOU brand.

1998

The slaughterhouse giant Danish Crown acquired total ownership of Tulip International.

1999

The EU approved the merger between Vestjyske Slagterier and Danish Crown. In this connection, Tulip International took over the processing activities from Vestjyske Slagterier and Danish Crown.

Danish Prime purchased Iwans Dybfrost (frozen sandwiches).

2002

Tulip International and Danish Prime merge to form one company as of 1 October.
Following the merger between Danish Crown and Steff-Houlberg, Tulip takes over the processing activities from Steff-Houlberg.

2002

Following concentration of activities within Tulip Ltd, Tulip Food Service Ltd is formed. The company comprises the former foodservice operations of Danish Prime UK, VJS and Tulip International in the UK.

2003
Tulip takes over the sausage factory Pølsefabrikken Gøl.

Tulip Ltd acquires Hygrade Foods Ltd on 31 March. The acquisition brings Tulip Ltd's total workforce to about 3,500.

2004
